Crossabeg/Ballymurn Parish Newsletter 10th & 11th March 2007

There is always a tendency to stay as we are, to take the easy option in particular if this means making a change in our own lifestyle. This week we reflect how St. Peter wished to stay on the mountain of glory with the Lord but Jerusalem and the crucifixion lay ahead. For us it is often difficult to make a change in Lent e.g. 1. Greater commitment to prayer, 2. To reassert Christian values in our daily life, and 3. Give time and effort to others.

Abstaining from items which we enjoy has very positive effects. 1. We cease dependence on such things and turn our dependence towards God. 2. It makes room for more reflection and more prayer. 3. It enables us to identify with those in the world who are poor and who are sick.
